How to Search the WebUsing Web DirectoriesWeb directories are categorized collections of links created by editors—real people—who make judgments about the usefulness and relevance of a particular Web site to people interested in a particular topic. The Open Directory Project, for example, enlists the support of thousands of volunteeer editors to organize and categorize Web sites and other information on the Internet (including software programs, newsgroups and mailing lists, images, and sound files, among other materials). Most directories allow you to browse their listings and to search within categories.
